New Delhi, April 7 (NationPress) The automobile manufacturer Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has officially commenced the production of the revamped Volkswagen Taigun at its Pune facility. This initiative fortifies its commitment to the ‘Make in India, for India and the world’ vision.
The updated Taigun incorporates a modern design alongside enhanced premium features, specifically optimized for Indian driving conditions. It maintains a strong emphasis on European driving dynamics, comfort, and safety standards.
According to Piyush Arora, the Managing Director and CEO, “The initiation of production for the new Volkswagen Taigun highlights the sophistication of our manufacturing ecosystem in India.”
He elaborated that the Indian facilities are designed to produce globally competitive vehicles with significant localization, thereby efficiently serving both domestic and export markets.
Nitin Kohli, Brand Director for Volkswagen India, emphasized that the Taigun has been pivotal to the company’s SUV strategy since its introduction, playing a crucial role in enhancing its product lineup.
“The new Taigun is integral to our strategic roadmap and is expected to foster substantial growth,” he noted, adding that production at the Chakan facility symbolizes the company's unwavering commitment to Indian consumers.
Initially launched in 2021, the Taigun has carved out a significant position in the market by prioritizing performance, comfort, and safety.
To date, over 143,000 units have been manufactured in India, with approximately 30% being exported to international markets, as reported by the auto firm.
Headquartered in Pune, the company manages the Indian operations for six brands under the Volkswagen Group, including Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Bentley.
Having commenced operations in India 25 years ago, the company currently operates two manufacturing plants in Chakan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with a combined annual production capacity of 315,000 units.
Presently, the company boasts around 700 customer touchpoints and employs roughly 5,000 individuals.
