Tata Motors Reports 32% Surge in February Sales Driven by Truck Demand

New Delhi, March 1 (NationPress) Tata Motors Limited announced a remarkable 32% year-on-year (YoY) increase in total sales for February 2026. During this month, the company sold 42,940 vehicles across both domestic and international markets, compared to 32,533 units in February 2025.
Domestic sales reached 40,893 units, reflecting a robust growth of 32.8% from 30,797 units during the same month last year.
The international segment also performed well, with a 17.9% increase in sales, totaling 2,047 units compared to 1,736 units a year earlier.
This growth was driven by strong demand in various truck and commercial vehicle categories.
Sales of heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) trucks surged by 37.1%, amounting to 13,559 units in February 2026, up from 9,892 units in the previous year.
Furthermore, intermediate, light and medium commercial vehicle (ILMCV) trucks saw a 34.1% rise to 7,577 units compared to 5,652 units in February 2025.
Passenger carrier sales experienced a 27.4% growth, reaching 5,548 units, as reported by the company.
In the small commercial vehicle (SCV) segment, which includes both cargo and pickup vehicles, sales jumped 30.4%, with 14,209 units sold compared to 10,898 units a year ago.
In the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (MH&ICV) category, domestic sales hit 21,423 units in February 2026, up from 15,940 units in February 2025, showcasing a growth of 34.4%.
Including sales from international markets, MH&ICV sales reached 22,512 units, marking a 34.9% increase from 16,693 units in the same month last year.
On another note, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited reported that its sales, including those of electric vehicles (EV), totaled 71,066 units in January 2026, reflecting a 47.1% rise year-on-year.
In January 2025, the total sales, including EVs, were 48,316 units.
Domestic sales of passenger vehicles, including EVs, surged by 46.1%, reaching 70,222 units in January 2026 compared to 48,076 units a year earlier. The international passenger vehicle business also saw impressive growth, with sales hitting 844 units in January 2026, a remarkable 251.7% increase from 240 units in January 2025.
