New Delhi, Aug 1 (NationPress) On Thursday, Tata Motors disclosed a reduction in its total domestic vehicle sales for July, indicating a lack of robust market demand both within the country and abroad.
During July 2025, the company recorded total sales of 65,953 units in the domestic sector (comprising Passenger and Commercial vehicles), which marks a 6 percent fall from the 70,161 units sold in the same month last year.
In terms of commercial vehicles (CV), sales for the month reached 28,956 units (both Domestic and International), reflecting a 7 percent increase from the 27,042 units sold in July 24. Domestic sales of CVs were 26,432 units, showing a 4 percent rise compared to 25,436 units sold in the same month a year ago.
The Indian automotive company sold a total of 39,521 units of passenger vehicles in the month under review, which is a 12 percent decrease from 44,725 units in July 2024.
Sales of Small Cargo Vehicles (SCV) and pickups contributed significantly with 9,880 units, followed by Heavy Commercial Vehicle trucks at 6,735 units, and passenger carriers at 4,749 units.
Furthermore, sales for Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MH&ICV) both domestically and internationally totaled 12,387 units, compared to 11,174 units in the same month last year.
The overall sales for MH&ICV, which includes trucks and buses, amounted to 13,669 units in July 2025, up from 11,886 units in July 2024.
In other news, the Tata Group is reportedly negotiating to acquire the truck division of Italy’s Iveco Group in a potential deal worth $4.5 billion. Discussions with Iveco, which is under the ownership of the Agnelli family, are focused on acquiring its defence and commercial truck operations. While Iveco has acknowledged the exploration of selling its industrial vehicle division, no definitive decisions have been made yet.
