Mumbai, July 15 (NationPress) The electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has officially made its debut in India by introducing the Model Y with rear-wheel drive (RWD), priced from Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Long Range RWD variant of the Model Y is listed at Rs 67.89 lakh, according to the pricing information on its official website.
In comparison, the Model Y starts at $44,990 in the United States, 263,500 yuan in China, and 45,970 euros in Germany. The price in India reflects a difference of approximately $15,000 compared to the U.S. base price, prior to any federal tax incentives.
Initial availability for the Tesla Model Y is set for Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram, with deliveries anticipated to commence in the third quarter of 2025.
The RWD version of the Model Y boasts a claimed range of 500 km on a single charge, while the Long Range RWD version offers an impressive range of 622 km.
Thanks to its rapid charging feature, the Model Y can gain up to 238 km of range in just 15 minutes for the RWD variant and 267 km for the Long Range variant.
As per the specifications on its website, the Model Y RWD accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the Long Range RWD achieves this in 5.6 seconds. Both models have a top speed of 201 km/h.
The first showroom has been established in Mumbai, with plans for a second location in New Delhi. Deliveries are expected to initiate in the third quarter of 2025.
The interior features a 15.4-inch front touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch rear touchscreen, powered front seats with ventilation, a two-way folding heated second-row, ambient lighting in the footwell and door pockets, wrap-around ambient lighting, and a high-quality sound system with nine speakers.
