Transforming the World in Just 10 Hours: Anand Mahindra Discusses Work-Life Balance

New Delhi, Jan 11 (NationPress) Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra stated on Saturday that achieving the ‘Viksit Bharat’ objective hinges on the quality of work rather than the quantity, as he addressed the current discourse on work-hour balance ignited by the country’s leading corporate personalities.

During the ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025’ event in the capital, Mahindra informed an engaged audience that this discussion is heading in an incorrect direction.

"I have immense respect for Narayana Murthy and other prominent corporate figures. My argument is that we need to prioritize the quality of work, not the quantity. It isn't about working 70 or 90 hours," he remarked, humorously.

Anand Mahindra elaborated that the focus should be on the results produced, asserting, "You can change the world in 10 hours."

When questioned about the number of hours he dedicates to work, he responded: "I prefer it not to revolve around time. It shouldn't be about quantity. Inquire about the quality of my work, not the hours I work."

He noted that his source of renewable energy comes from “recharging my batteries through interactions with young individuals.”

“Today, I fulfilled all my expectations, so my batteries are fully charged. It was a fantastic event,” he expressed.

The debate surrounding work-life balance intensified this week after L&T Chairman S.N. Subrahmanyan suggested that employees should work 90 hours a week, including Sundays.

Following backlash, the company clarified that the Chairman’s remarks reflect a broader ambition for nation-building, emphasizing that extraordinary outcomes require extraordinary effort.

Celebrities from Bollywood, including Deepika Padukone, as well as Harsh Goenka, Chairperson of the RPG Group, publicly criticized Subrahmanyan’s statements.

Additionally, the Department of Youth Affairs is hosting the 'Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue' from January 10-12 at Bharat Mandapam here. This event, which reinvents the National Youth Festival, aims to offer a distinctive platform for youth to propose innovative solutions for a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
