New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) An Air India Express flight scheduled to operate between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam was cancelled after the pilot discovered a technical issue prior to departure, as confirmed by the airline on Friday.
According to a statement from Air India Express, the aircraft returned to the ramp for safety reasons after the issue was detected during pre-departure checks.
As a precautionary measure, the flight was ultimately cancelled.
“In the interest of safety, our Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam flight returned to the ramp after the pilot identified a technical issue before departure. Consequently, the flight was cancelled,” stated an Air India Express spokesperson.
“Affected guests were quickly provided with hotel accommodations and refreshments. They were also given options such as a full refund or complimentary rescheduling,” the spokesperson further explained.
The airline expressed its regret for the inconvenience and emphasized that passenger safety is the top priority in all operational aspects.
In another incident earlier this week, an Air India Express flight from Jeddah to Kozhikode was diverted to Kochi due to suspected damage to the aircraft’s tyre, likely caused by a foreign object on the runway at Jeddah Airport.
The aircraft landed safely in Kochi, with emergency protocols activated as a precaution.
“Our Jeddah-Kozhikode flight was diverted to Kochi and made a precautionary landing following suspected tyre damage likely caused by a foreign object on the runway at Jeddah airport,” the airline noted.
All passengers were safely assisted to the terminal and later provided road transport to Kozhikode.
In recent weeks, the airline has also issued advisories regarding potential disruptions due to weather conditions.
Earlier this month, Air India Express cautioned that fog at various airports in North India might affect flight schedules, impacting both domestic and international services.
Passengers affected by such disruptions were offered a one-time flight change at no additional cost or a full refund.
