Having trained in Hindustani classical music for nine years, Adarsh took to Instagram, where he showcased a series of behind-the-scenes moments from “Tu Yaa Main,” where he portrays an underground hip-hop artist.
In his caption, Adarsh expressed his excitement about discovering hidden gems of the city he had never encountered before.
“I discovered Mumbai through hip-hop. I never knew Nallasopara was embraced by hills, providing stunning panoramic views of the city. My gratitude goes to Shaikhspeare, gravity, and the Mumbai local crew for these cherished memories,” he shared.
While wandering the by-lanes of Govandi, he met Vijay Dada, whose remarkable life journey left a significant impression on him. Adarsh highlighted Vijay’s inspiring rise from a troubled childhood to appearing on television, alongside his relentless efforts to empower local children through martial arts and hip-hop.
“He does so much for the upliftment of kids by introducing them to martial arts and hip-hop,” he remarked.
In Andheri, Adarsh interacted with local legends kinga, yeda anna, ace, and ninja, gaining insights about Mumbai's early hip-hop days, from shooting videos in JB Nagar to becoming successful producers and musicians.
Adarsh praised Akku, a hip-hop pioneer from Dharavi, for introducing him to the area in an entirely new light.
“Akku, a trailblazer in Dharavi’s hip-hop scene, has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to promote both hip-hop and education. He revealed a side of Dharavi I had never seen. I visited his studio and was impressed by some emerging hip-hop talent. 7 Bantaiz, who played a crucial role in the album, generously offered their space for filming parts of the naam karu bada video,” he noted.
“The OG Naezy. We listened to some of his unreleased tracks, and they were absolutely incredible. Thank you for welcoming us into your home, brother,” he expressed.
Having spent years immersed in music since his Swadesi days, Adarsh found Shantanu’s involvement profoundly personal.
