Mumbai, April 14 (NationPress) Actor Adivi Sesh has characterized his newest film, “Dacoit”, as a contemporary adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, grounded in a reality that feels authentic and relatable.

At the film's core is a tale of two former lovers whose history continues to influence their current lives. The narrative delves into the complexities that arise when love remains unresolved, merging feelings of desire, resentment, and the quest for redemption.

Sesh, who co-wrote the storyline, stated: “For me, Dacoit transcends mere conflict or vengeance. At its essence, it’s a love story. It’s our modern interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, but set in a landscape that resonates with audiences today.”

“These are two individuals who once shared a profound love, only for life to take them on separate paths. Their reunion isn’t solely about reigniting past emotions; it’s about facing what love has morphed into over time,” explained the actor.

He elaborated on what attracted him to this storyline.

“The concept of eternal love has always intrigued me. Not in a fairy-tale manner, but in its persistence, even as relationships evolve or dissolve. In Dacoit, love doesn't vanish; it metamorphoses. Sometimes it turns into anguish, at other times into resilience, and occasionally even into a desire for revenge.”

Sesh emphasized that the Romeo and Juliet reference is not one of replication, but rather of interpretation.

“We’re not merely retelling Romeo and Juliet. We’re capturing the essence of that intense, intricate, and lasting love and situating it within a context that audiences can relate to today. It’s raw, it’s flawed, and that’s what lends it authenticity.”

Directed by Shaneil Deo in his debut, Dacoit also features a stellar cast including Mrunal Thakur, Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, Sunil, Zayn Marie Khan, Atul Kulkarni, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, and Vaibhav Tatwawadi, among others.
