Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is set to host the latest edition of the long-running crime franchise Crime Patrol, titled Crime Patrol – Crime Ka Current Season. The actor, who has already shot 15 episodes, says the show's grounding in real-life crime cases is what drew him to the project.

Why Devgn Signed On

Speaking about his association with the show, Devgn said the real-world basis of its stories was the primary draw. 'What I find most intriguing about the show is that the stories are inspired by crime cases. Some of them are shocking because they show you the kind of things that can happen in the world around us, sometimes involving people you would never expect,' he said.

He added that the series goes beyond dramatisation to spotlight the investigative effort behind each case. 'At the same time, you also see the effort and persistence that goes into solving these cases. For me, the show is not just about telling compelling stories; it can also be an eye-opener for the audience,' Devgn said.

The Awareness Angle

Devgn emphasised that Crime Patrol carries a broader social utility, particularly for younger viewers and families. 'It makes you more aware, more cautious, and reminds you not to trust anyone blindly. That awareness is important for everyone — youngsters, families and older audiences alike,' he said.

In his hosting role, Devgn will guide viewers through narratives drawn from real crime cases, contextualising the circumstances and the investigative process involved in resolving them.

What We Know About the Season

Reports had first surfaced in August 2025 that Devgn had been brought on board, with sources indicating he had already completed filming on 15 episodes. According to sources close to the production, whether Devgn continues with the remainder of the season will depend on audience response and TRP ratings.

Actor Rajesh Tailang has also reportedly been signed to host additional episodes of the upcoming season, suggesting a multi-host format for the new edition.

Crime Patrol's Legacy

Originally launched in 2003, Crime Patrol has been one of Indian television's most enduring true-crime formats, known for dramatising cases drawn from police records across the country. The franchise has run through multiple seasons and hosts, making Devgn's entry a high-profile addition to a well-established property. Notably, this marks one of the first times a mainstream Bollywood A-lister of Devgn's stature has taken on a hosting role for the series.

With the new season's premiere date yet to be officially announced, audience and industry attention will be on whether Devgn's star power translates into a ratings boost for the franchise.
