Mumbai, April 14 (NationPress): Karan Singh Tyagi’s forthcoming directorial venture, "Kesari Chapter 2," is poised for release this Friday. In anticipation of the film's debut, lead actor Akshay Kumar, along with fellow cast members, visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar to offer their prayers.
The group, which included R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday, subsequently made their way to Jallianwala Bagh to honor the martyrs of the tragic event. They were joined by Punjabi actor Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi and renowned singer Gurdas Maan.
Speaking to the media, Akshay, who portrays C. Sankaran Nair in the film, remarked, “Every year on April 13, individuals gather in large numbers at Jallianwala Bagh to pay tribute to the victims of the massacre, but very few are aware of Shankar Nair — the man who voiced his concerns for the innocent lives lost in the 1919 tragedy.” He further noted that relatives of Shankar Nair were invited and honored at the event.
Moreover, Akshay emphasized that the film sheds light on an important chapter of history. "Every time I watch the trailer or the film, it brings me to tears. A tremendous amount of effort has gone into creating this film, and I encourage everyone to watch it with their children so that future generations stay connected to our history.”
Recently, Tyagi commended Akshay Kumar’s performance in the film, stating, “He's been remarkable in his support for me. I just want audiences to see the film because I believe this is one of his finest performances. He's heard tales from his grandfather and father, so he feels a personal connection to this tragedy.”
In a related context, “Kesari Chapter 2" is inspired by the book The Case That Shook the Empire, authored by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, Nair's great-grandson and his wife.
Set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy, the film is slated for theatrical release on April 18.
