New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, present in the capital for the launch of his new film “Kesari Chapter 2”, stated that he is only aware of what history books have conveyed regarding the Jallianwala Bagh incident.
On April 15, just before its release, “Kesari: Chapter 2” held its lavish premiere in Delhi. The event was graced by numerous key political figures and dignitaries. Notable attendees included Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Minister Anurag Thakur.
During the premiere, Akshay expressed, “We are immensely thankful that sir has arranged and hosted this entire event, the premiere as a whole, and I sincerely hope that everyone loved it, or at least those friends who came here, and they must have experienced the movie, but I would say, it’s better you ask me what you thought about it.”
Akshay conveyed his gratitude and joy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognized lawyer-nationalist C. Sankaran Nair.
“I would say that I’m very, very thankful and pleased that he has acknowledged this… But he has been aware of it from the start, and it is very considerate of him to mention this, especially now that the movie is being released,” Akshay noted.
A spiritual continuation of Kesari, the storyline of “Kesari Chapter 2” is inspired by the book The Case That Shook The Empire authored by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, focusing on C. Sankaran Nair and the tragic 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Akshay admitted that his knowledge about the massacre was limited to what he had read in history books.
“I wasn’t aware of it, I had no understanding, I solely know what took place in Jallianwala Bagh and that is all, I just know what history books have taught me, but history books never informed us about the subsequent events,” he said.
Akshay wishes for the British government to view “Kesari Chapter 2”.
The actor remarked, “I only know about the incidents in Jallianwala Bagh. I sincerely hope and pray that he and the British government watch the film and acknowledge the wrongs that occurred, and that’s all. With folded hands, I express this.”
The film is scheduled to debut in theaters on April 18.
