Bollywood megastar Akshay Kumar expressed his joy on Instagram Stories by sharing a photo of the victorious team.

He captioned it, “So proud of our unstoppable women in blue.”

The Bollywood fraternity is wholeheartedly celebrating this phenomenal triumph. Earlier today, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan conveyed his happiness, emphasizing the immense pride this historic victory has instilled in the nation.

Big B tweeted on his X account, formerly known as Twitter, “T 5552 - We won!!! India Women’s Cricket .. WORLD CHAMPIONS!! So much pride you have brought for us all .. CONGRATULATIONS CONGRATULATIONS CONGRATULATIONS !!!! (sic)”.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee remarked, “World Champions! 🏆 History has been made and witnessed! This was more than just a match; it felt like a moment that will remain etched in our memories. I am so proud of Team India. Shefali and Richa were phenomenal, and the entire team left everything on the field. This monumental day will inspire future generations, showing countless young girls that anything is possible.”

Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan also shared his thoughts on the micro-blogging site, stating, “We did it!! HISTORIC! Congratulations to Team India on winning our first Women’s Cricket World Cup. Here’s to the start of many more victories… Sending all my love and respect.”

The Indian team triumphed over South Africa, echoing what the men’s team accomplished in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final.

South Africa won the toss, and captain Laura Wolvaardt opted to bowl first. The Indian warrior queens took to the field, with Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma opening the innings. They launched an explosive start with a partnership of 104 runs. While Smriti scored 45 runs off 58 balls, just shy of a half-century, Shafali Verma smashed 87 runs off 78 balls, which included 7 boundaries and 2 sixes.

India lost its first wicket when Smriti was caught by Sinalo Jafta after attempting a cut shot off a delivery from Chloe Tryon.

Next in was Jemimah Rodrigues, the standout performer in the semi-final, who added 24 runs from 37 balls before being dismissed by the Proteas’ skipper.

The Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur also fell after contributing 20 runs. However, Deepti Sharma played a stellar innings scoring 58 runs from 58 balls, including a six.

The Indian squad posted a total of 298 runs, just short of the 300-run mark. In reply, the Proteas faced immediate pressure as their captain, Laura Wolvaardt, dazzled with a brilliant century, scoring 101 runs from 98 balls before being dismissed by Deepti Sharma.

Despite Laura's efforts, she was the only top-scorer for South Africa, and they succumbed under pressure as Team India clinched victory by 52 runs. Deepti Sharma excelled not just with the bat but also with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 39 runs with an impressive economy rate of 4.11.

She received the Player of the Tournament award, while Shafali Verma was honored as the Player of the Match.

This triumph in the finals has healed a generation that has endured the pain of the ICC Men’s World Cup 2003 and 2023, while cherishing the memories of the ICC Men’s World Cup 2011, the T20 World Cup 2007 and 2024, and the iconic victory of 1983.
