Ektaa Kapoor Reveals Akshay Kumar's Remarkable Gesture After Box-Office Setback
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 6 (NationPress) Producer Ektaa Kapoor recently disclosed that renowned Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar once returned a cheque to her after one of their previous projects did not perform well at the box office.
During the trailer launch event for the upcoming horror-comedy film ‘Bhooth Bangla’ held in the city on Monday, she shared insights with the media regarding the star’s remarkable integrity and generosity.
She recounted, “Few individuals are aware of this about him, but he returned the cheque stating, ‘You have incurred losses due to this film.’ I was taken aback; such an act is rare. Having been in this industry for over 31 years, I've never witnessed anyone do that. He casually handed me the cheque and said, ‘Take it.’ I responded, ‘No, you must work with me on a film,’ and that’s how our project came to fruition.”
On the same day, the trailer for ‘Bhooth Bangla’ was launched. This film signifies the reunion of Akshay Kumar, Priyadarshan, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav.
Additionally, the cast includes Tabu, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, and Mithila Palkar. The film's release date was rescheduled by the producers, and Ektaa Kapoor announced the update creatively on her Instagram, attributing the change to the incredible success of Ranveer Singh's film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’.
Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, a part of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in collaboration with Cape of Good Films, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ is directed by Priyadarshan and features producers including Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor.
The film is set to hit theaters on April 16, 2026.
