Amitabh Bachchan Shares His School Days of Skipping Classes

Mumbai, Dec 23 (NationPress) The legendary Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan is well-regarded for his strict approach on film sets and his love for meticulous rehearsals. Yet, there was a period when Big B chose to indulge in some fleeting enjoyment.

During an episode of the quiz-based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, he disclosed that he frequently bunked school.

This exciting season features a unique twist dubbed ‘India Challenger Week’. In this week’s format, out of 10 participants, the top two from the Fastest Finger First (FFF) segment faced off in the ‘Jaldi 5 Buzzer Round’ to secure a spot on the hot seat. The winner of this buzzer round proceeded with the game, starting from the money tree at the 6th question. Jaspal Singh, a Science Lab Assistant from Punjab, showcased his impressive intellect and quick responses, leaving the audience in awe.

During the show, an inquisitive Jaspal posed a question to Amitabh Bachchan, stating, "In the film ‘Mohabbatein’, you played a principal character who embodied ‘Parampara, Prathishta, Anushashan’ (Tradition, Prestige, Discipline). If you were indeed a principal, would you have been that stringent? Did you ever skip classes?"

In response, Amitabh Bachchan humorously remarked, "Where did you get the notion that I could have been a principal? My academic performance was subpar, so I could never hold that position. However, the principal at my school was quite strict. I didn’t just skip classes; I bunked school altogether! I attended a boarding school in Nainital, where leaving the campus was not allowed. But at nighttime, while everyone was asleep, I would sneak out. If caught, there were consequences."

Jaspal then added, "In that film, your students did something similar, didn’t they?" Amitabh Bachchan replied, "Indeed, and when they were caught, they faced punishment as well."

‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ season 16 is broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television.
