The trailer for the upcoming family dramedy Om Ka Hari dropped on social media on 3 September, offering audiences a first look at the strained yet deeply affectionate bond between a father and son navigating a road trip to Varanasi. The film stars Anshuman Jha and veteran actor Raghubir Yadav in the lead roles, with a theatrical release set for 18 September.

What the Trailer Reveals

The trailer centres on Hari Prasad — played by Raghubir Yadav — an ageing, opinionated father who sets off to Varanasi believing he is preparing for the end of his life. His son Om, played by Anshuman Jha, accompanies him on the journey. The trip pulls in their wider family, bringing equal measures of humour and emotional weight as long-suppressed tensions surface.

What the Cast Said

Raghubir Yadav described his character as someone who carries love he cannot articulate. “He is stubborn, opinionated, and sometimes completely impossible, but beneath all of that is a father who loves, just doesn’t know how to express it. That is where much of the humor and emotion in the film comes from. The relationship is very recognizable because these conflicts exist in nearly every family,” he said.

Anshuman Jha said the film avoids idealising family life. “Sometimes the person you fight with the most is also the person you love the most. Om is not someone who easily accepts what his father says or does, and that is what makes their relationship complicated. The journey to Varanasi forces them to spend time together in a way they perhaps never have before,” he said.

Actor Soni Razdan, who plays a key role, called it “that rare film about a dysfunctional family that, despite all the chaos, conflicts, and complications, somehow manages to hold itself together.”

The Director’s Vision

Filmmaker Harish Vyas said the project grew from a personal fascination with unexpressed love. “I wanted to explore the one relationship where saying ‘I love you’ can somehow feel the most difficult — between a father and his son,” he said. Om Ka Hari marks the third collaboration between Vyas and Jha, signalling a creative partnership that has deepened with each project.

Cast and Release

Beyond Jha, Yadav, and Razdan, the film also features Ayesha Kapur in a key role. Om Ka Hari arrives in cinemas on 18 September, entering a market that has shown strong appetite for mid-budget, character-driven Hindi films in recent years.
