Anu Aggarwal Reflects on the ‘Natural’ Breastfeeding Scene in ‘Khal-Naaikaa’
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 18 (NationPress) Reminiscing about her past, former actress Anu Aggarwal discussed a noteworthy moment from her 1993 movie “Khal-Naaikaa”, which many considered daring. However, she insists she never saw it that way, instead describing it as “the most natural thing—life itself.”
In the film, Anu portrays a cunning nanny. The scene in question shows her breastfeeding the child of the family she serves, aiming to distance the mother, a significant plot point inspired by the psychological thriller “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” by Curtis Hanson.
On Instagram, Anu shared three stills from the film featuring her breastfeeding the infant.
“Khal-Naaikaa. There was a moment in the film that many labeled as bold. For me, it wasn’t. It was simply the most natural thing—life itself. As an actress, I had to detach from my own moral compass. To portray the character authentically, I needed to view her actions as justified. It was just another scene to perform,” she explained.
“In fact, there were far more challenging scenes. Not for shock, but for truth,” she added.
Khal-Naaikaa was directed by Saawan Kumar and featured other stars like Jeetendra and Jaya Prada. The film draws inspiration from The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, which includes actors like Rebecca De Mornay and Julianne Moore.
The storyline revolves around a pregnant woman whose husband takes his own life due to false sexual harassment accusations. She seeks vengeance against the family of the accuser.
After her debut in 1990, Anu starred in numerous Hindi films such as Ghazab Tamasha, King Uncle, The Cloud Door, Janam Kundli, and Ram Shastra.
Her final film release was Return of Jewel Thief in 1996, directed by Ashok Tyagi. This was a sequel to the 1967 classic Jewel Thief, featuring Ashok Kumar and Dev Anand, who reprised their roles. The cast also included Dharmendra, Jackie Shroff, Shilpa Shirodka, and Madhoo.
In 1999, Anu suffered severe injuries from a car accident, leading to a coma lasting almost 29 days, which erased her memory of her previous life.
