Mumbai, July 6 (NationPress) Actor and filmmaker Anupam Kher took to social media to share his elation after receiving a standing ovation for his film “Tanvi The Great” at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla.
Describing it as the 'most memorable moment' of his 40-year journey in the film industry, the seasoned actor revealed that this screening represented the film’s inaugural presentation in India, attended by aspiring cadets and high-ranking officials, including Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh. On Instagram, Kher posted videos and photos from the momentous event along with a touching message that stated, “Standing Ovation For Tanvi The Great At The National Defence Academy. In my 40 years of career as an actor/entertainer, this has to be the MOST memorable moment of my life!”
“It was the first screening of #TanviTheGreat in India at the #NationalDefenceAcademy, Khadakwasla. A site where young cadets are prepared to become our Armed Services Officers. So when the Honorable VAdm #GurcharanSingh, Comdt, NDA, at the conclusion of the film told cadets that they could react to the movie as they wished, the entire #HabibullahAuditorium of the #NDA erupted into a THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE, which felt like it lasted an eternity! I was overwhelmed with tears of joy and gratitude. All the hardships, heartbreaks, challenging moments, disappointments, and difficulties we faced at the @anupamkherstudio were absolutely worth it! While I am uncertain about the film's future, the present moment from last night felt like the brightest sunshine!”
“For me, when over 2500 cadets and officers of our #ArmedForces stood up to APPLAUD for our #LabourOfLove #TanviTheGreat, it was a BLOCKBUSTER moment for us! Thank you Admiral Singh, all officers and their families, and my cherished young cadets for giving wings to our Tanvi. We are PROUD and Humbled! Jai Hind,” concluded Anupam Kher.
This film also marked the acting debut of Shubhangi and features a stellar cast including Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, and Nasser, with special appearances by Anupam Kher and Iain Glen.
Directed by Kher, this emotional drama, produced by Excel Entertainment, is set to release on July 18, 2025.
