Chennai, Jan 23 (NationPress) The producers of the captivating film, 'Lockdown', directed by A R Jeeva and starring Anupama Parameswaran in the central role, have announced that the movie will finally hit theaters on January 30 this year.

On their X account, Lyca Productions, the studio behind the film, shared, "Every pause had a purpose. #Lockdown in cinemas Jan 30. #LockdownInCinemasJan30."

Previously, the release had been postponed at least twice.

The film was originally set to premiere on December 5 last year but was delayed due to relentless rains affecting Chennai and other regions of Tamil Nadu, caused by the remnants of cyclone Ditwah, which had a devastating impact on neighboring Sri Lanka.

In their announcement regarding the postponement, Lyca Productions emphasized, "Considering the ongoing rainfall, the release of #Lockdown has been deferred. Your safety is our top priority. We’ll see you in theaters soon. #LockdownInCinemasSoon."

The studio also released a statement noting, "Due to heavy rains and unfavorable weather conditions, we are delaying the release of our film #Lockdown. We prioritize the safety of our audience, theater staff, and partners. Please stay safe and take necessary precautions. We eagerly await your presence in cinemas to witness 'Lockdown' on the big screen."

Once the downpour subsided, the filmmakers announced a new release date of December 12, but once again postponed it due to unforeseen circumstances.

The film has received a U/A certification from the Censor Board, clearing it for public viewing.

'Lockdown' is a woman-centric narrative that has generated significant anticipation as it is inspired by real events.

The trailer opens with Anupama Parameswaran, portraying the character Anitha, expressing her anxiety about returning home. It becomes clear she is facing issues she cannot confide in her family about, while also dealing with unwelcome advances from men.

As these challenges unfold, a nationwide lockdown is imposed for 21 days to combat the spread of COVID-19, forcing Anitha to remain at home.

Her parents grow increasingly concerned about her behavior. Her mother observes Anitha frequently checking her phone and becoming irritable. The trailer depicts Anitha and her friend trying to reach a doctor, who is under isolation due to the virus.

The trailer further shows Anitha desperately reaching out to friends for financial help, raising her parents' concerns about her motives.

The trailer concludes with Anitha apologizing to her father, promising not to repeat her actions.

Produced by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions, the film features a talented cast including Charlie, Nirosha, Priya Venkat, Livingston, Indhumathi, Rajkumar, Shamji, Lollu Sabha Maran, Vinayak Raj, Vidhu, Abhirami, Ravathi, Sanjivie, Priya Ganesh, and Asha.

The film's music is composed by the talented NR Raghunanthan and Siddharth Vipin, while K.A. Sakthivel handles the cinematography. Editing is managed by V J Sabu Joseph and art direction is by A Jayakumar.

Choreography is led by Sherif and Sri Girish, with Om Sivaprakash orchestrating the stunts. Meenakshi Shreedharan has designed the film's costumes.
