Chennai, Dec 11 (NationPress) The creators of director A R Jeeva's captivating film, 'Lockdown', starring actress Anupama Parameswaran, announced on Thursday that they are once again delaying the film's release due to unforeseen circumstances.

Through their X account, Lyca Productions, the production company behind the movie, tweeted, "#Lockdown has been postponed. A new release date will be communicated shortly. #LockdownInCinemasSoon," along with a statement expressing, "We recognize the enthusiasm and anticipation surrounding this film, and we deeply regret any disruption this change may cause to our audience, theatre partners, distributors, and the media."

The statement continued, "We are dedicated to ensuring that the film is presented to you under the most favorable conditions. We truly value your patience, support, and understanding. A new release date will be revealed soon."

This marks the second postponement for the film within just two weeks.

The movie, which was initially set to premiere on December 5, was first delayed due to persistent rains that battered Chennai and other regions of Tamil Nadu, a consequence of the deep depression linked to cyclone Ditwah, which caused devastation in neighboring Sri Lanka.

Lyca Productions, while announcing the initial delay, stated, "Given the ongoing rains, the release of #Lockdown has been postponed. Your safety is our primary concern. We look forward to seeing you in theaters soon. #LockdownInCinemasSoon."

They also released a statement indicating, "Due to the persistent heavy rains and adverse weather conditions, the release of our film #Lockdown has been postponed. In light of the current challenges, we are delaying the release to prioritize the safety of our audience, theatre staff, and partners. Please stay safe and take necessary precautions. We anticipate welcoming you to cinemas soon for 'Lockdown' on the big screen."

However, after the rains subsided, the creators announced a new release date on December 8, stating the film would now debut on December 12. Yet again, they have postponed the film's release citing unforeseen circumstances.

The Censor Board has already granted the film a U/A certificate for its release.

'Lockdown', a film centered on women, has generated significant expectations as it is based on a true story.

The trailer opens with Anupama Parameswaran, who portrays the character Anitha, expressing her anxiety about returning home. It is clear she has issues she cannot discuss with her family. Complicating matters, she faces unwanted advances from men.

Under these conditions, a nationwide 21-day lockdown is declared to combat the spread of COVID-19, forcing Anitha to remain at home.

Anitha's behavior raises concerns for her parents. Her mother observes that she is constantly glued to her phone and losing her temper. The trailer also depicts Anitha and her friend trying to reach a doctor, who is isolated after contracting the virus.

As the trailer progresses, Anitha is seen desperately calling her friends to borrow money, alarming her parents, who question her motives.

The trailer concludes with Anitha apologizing to her father, promising not to repeat her actions.

Produced by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions, the film also stars Charlie, Nirosha, Priya Venkat, Livingston, Indhumathi, Rajkumar, Shamji, Lollu Sabha Maran, Vinayak Raj, Vidhu, Abhirami, Ravathi, Sanjivie, Priya Ganesh, and Asha, among others.

The film's music has been composed by the talented NR Raghunanthan and Siddharth Vipin, with cinematography by K.A. Sakthivel. Editing is done by V J Sabu Joseph, and art direction is by A Jayakumar.

Choreography is handled by Sherif and Sri Girish, while Om Sivaprakash has choreographed the stunts. Costumes are designed by Meenakshi Shreedharan.
