Mumbai, Sep 2 (NationPress) Television actress Anupama Solanki has opened up about her character Sudha’s unexpected exit from the show ‘Jagriti: Ek Nayi Subha’. She expressed feeling quite low upon learning about it, especially since she had committed to a one-year contract.
Reflecting on the situation, she stated, “My storyline will conclude in the next two days. When the production head informed me, ‘Anupama, your character will finish in 4–5 days,’ I was disheartened because I had signed on for a year.”
The actress continued, “The audience embraced Sudha so affectionately, so I was mentally prepared to remain until at least December 2025. Feeling low was expected, but this phase has also taught me the value of detachment.”
For Anupama, Sudha was more than just a role; it was her first significant emotional connection to a character.
“This was the first time in my career that I felt a deep emotional bond with a character. I resonated with her journey. However, as actors, we need to prepare ourselves because nowadays, Indian TV shows can suddenly change direction or conclude—sometimes even within three months. So, I am gradually mentally training myself for such realities.”
She praised her co-star Arya Babbar for being a reliable support during this challenging time.
She shared, “Arya encouraged me not to worry, assuring me that I would soon land my next role. He even acknowledged my acting in front of the whole crew. For me, that was significant—having an actor like Arya Babbar commend my work publicly.”
“He is the backbone of the show, and his words motivated me immensely. In today's competitive industry, few people take the time to commend others, so I cherish it greatly.”
Discussing the abrupt changes in television, Anupama voiced her belief that every actor deserves clarity on why a character is terminated, especially if the audience response is favorable.
“I understand that channels have their reasons—sometimes a new show needs to be promoted, or TRP ratings and time slots are adjusted. Recently, Zee TV discontinued Kumkum Bhagya and Bhagya Lakshmi, and our show also faced slot changes. I respect those decisions, but actors should at least receive clarity.”
“I was genuinely astonished by the audience's reaction. The day after one of my pivotal episodes aired, my Instagram was inundated with edits of Sudha’s entry scenes, which went viral overnight. That kind of affection is unforgettable. I’m confident that viewers of ‘Jagriti: Ek Nayi Subha’ will always remember Sudha.”
