Mumbai, May 29 (NationPress) Renowned television actress Asha Negi has opened up about her choice to withdraw from multiple projects where she felt that intimate and bold scenes were incorporated unnecessarily.
In her candid remarks, she underscored the significance of comfort and consent in depicting such moments on screen, bringing attention to the difficulties actors encounter while navigating creative decisions within the industry. When questioned if she has ever exited a project due to script issues or clashes with her personal values, Asha affirmed that she has indeed made such choices. She stressed the importance of remaining true to herself and only accepting roles that resonate with her personal beliefs and comfort zone.
The ‘Pavitra Rishta’ actress shared with IANS, “Yes, I’ve walked away from projects numerous times. There are instances when I feel the narrative lacks depth or when bold scenes are included without justification; I simply do not enjoy being part of it. In such cases, I prefer to let it go.”
When asked if actors engage in bold scenes solely for fame or content value, Asha Negi conveyed her belief that actors don’t opt for such scenes purely for notoriety. She remarked, “I don’t think actors engage in bold scenes for fame. And honestly, does bold content truly lead to fame? I’m not sure. From what I’ve seen, recognition comes from compelling stories, strong characters, and powerful performances. Fame was something I considered early in my career. Now, I concentrate entirely on my craft.”
Reflecting on her career, the ‘Baarish’ actress disclosed that she has never felt typecast on television. Following her success in iconic series, she took a step back from TV, appearing only in a handful of reality and scripted shows that didn’t gain traction.
She then redirected her attention to the OTT platform, where she has been exploring diverse roles. Asha emphasized that she intentionally selects varied characters to avoid being pigeonholed, which allows her to expand and diversify as an actress.
Asha Negi recently starred in the compelling legal drama ‘Criminal Justice 4,’ featuring Pankaj Tripathi reprising his role as the astute advocate Madhav Mishra.
Directed by Rohan Sippy, the latest season debuted on JioHotstar on May 22.
