Chennai, Feb 1 (NationPress) The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially approved the release of director G Prajith's comedic film 'Ashakal Aayiram', starring Jayaram and Kalidas Jayaram in pivotal roles, granting it a clean 'U' certificate.

The film is produced by Gokulam Gopalan and Krishnamoorthy under the banners of Sree Gokulam Movies and Gokulam Productions.

In a recent announcement on their Instagram, Sree Gokulam Movies stated, "#AshakalAayiram Censored Clean U. Ashakal Aayiram Movie Releasing Worldwide on 6th February 2026."

Besides Jayaram and his son Kalidas Jayaram, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast including Asha Sharath, Sharafudheen, Ishani Krishna, Anand Manmadhan, Akhil Nrd, Ramesh Pisharody, Dileep Menon, Zhins Shan, Rajesh Azhikode, Vaishakh Vijayan, Abhinand Accode, Mukundan, Anand Padmanabhan, Renjith Balachandran, Sudheer Paravur, Niharika, Bhagya, Kunchan, Shaiju Sreedhar, Raffi, Suresh Kumar, and Surya Balasubramanian.

The trailer opens with Jayaram admonishing his son Kalidas for spending his days merely eating, watching movies, and loafing about. Despite this, Kalidas believes he has the talent to succeed in acting.

His overconfidence leads him to think that when someone suggests acting classes, they’re asking him to teach them instead.

In a twist, Sumith, an actor, offers to be his godfather, prompting Kalidas to consider the connections necessary for success in the film industry.

As the plot unfolds, a friendly rivalry develops between father and son. Jayaram remarks, "In a competition, one wins while the other loses..." and Kalidas teases him about the pain of losing. Jayaram tries to impart wisdom, stating, "Everyone has many dreams. But at some point, we must realize whether we truly deserve them. If not, we must let them go and live simply for existence."

Kalidas, on his part, attempts to make his father see how a father's support can uplift a child's confidence and help them tackle challenges, lamenting the absence of such encouragement from Jayaram. The trailer wraps up with Jayaram posing a poignant question, "What occurs when someone who has only known defeat is given a chance to win?"

The film features Jude Anthany Joseph as the creative director and Swaroop Philip as the cinematographer. Editing is handled by Shafeeque V.B, and the film's score is composed by Sanal Dev.

Point of View

I find that 'Ashakal Aayiram' promises not just entertainment but also a thoughtful exploration of familial relationships and the quest for success in the competitive film industry. The film's positive reception by the CBFC indicates its potential to resonate with audiences across demographics.
