Mumbai, Oct 27 (NationPress) Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, renowned for his versatility, has revealed insights about his latest film, “Thamma.”
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, the ‘Bala’ star expressed that this project heralds a thrilling new chapter in his career, immersing him in a fantastical realm that contrasts sharply with his previous realistic narratives. He described the opportunity to be part of such a grand Diwali release as a source of immense excitement and challenge, offering a truly imaginative cinematic journey for audiences.
When questioned on how ‘Thamma’ differentiates itself from the plethora of characters he has embodied, the ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ actor noted, “This represents a fresh expedition for me—both regarding my character and the film's scope. It’s my inaugural big-budget Diwali release. While I’ve largely engaged in realistic films, Thamma is rooted in a fantastical universe. This alone is both a challenge and something I find incredibly exhilarating. I consider myself fortunate to be involved in this project.”
Reflecting on the film's reception, Ayushmann commented, “I genuinely believe that ‘Thamma’ was crafted for me, especially since I have portrayed realistic, flawed characters in the past, making this transition all the more enjoyable. Audiences have yet to see me embody a character that is alpha, powerful, and adept at action.”
“Thus, this arc has been remarkable for me as an actor and for my character in the film. I am known for choosing unique projects, and this film, as the genesis of the next chapter in the Maddock horror-comedy universe, is distinct in its own right, delving into the stories and origins of Betaal. I am thrilled with its acceptance,” he added.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Maddock Films, “Thamma” premiered in theaters on October 21, 2025, just in time for the Diwali festivities. The film showcases Ayushmann Khurrana as a mild-mannered journalist whose life takes an unexpected twist upon encountering a mysterious vampiric entity played by Rashmika Mandanna. The cast also includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Yakshasan, the film's primary antagonist.
