Mumbai, Dec 18 (NationPress) The late legendary star Dharmendra’s final movie, “Ikkis”, has been rescheduled to January 1, following the remarkable success of the spy thriller “Dhurandhar” in its second weekend. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, whose grandson Agastya Nanda features in the film, expressed his views regarding the delay.

Initially, “Ikkis” was set for an October 2 release but was later postponed. It was then aimed for a Christmas release on December 25, coinciding with Kartik Aaryan’s romantic comedy “Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri”. However, it is now confirmed for a solo debut on January 1.

On his blog, Amitabh remarked: "IKKIS pehle PACCHIS (25) ko thi, ab hogi CHHABBIS (26), pehli (1) ko; kuch jyotish vidya wale kahe, bhai, shagun hai accha, chale chalo, bas chale chalo!!"

(It was on the 25th before, now it will be on the 26, on the 1st; some astrologers say, brother, it’s a good omen, let’s go, just let’s go!!)

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, this war drama focuses on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India–Pakistan War.

The film also marks the big screen debut of Amitabh’s grandson Agastya Nanda and features actors Jaideep Ahlawat and Simar Bhatia.

Agastya previously made his acting debut in Zoya Akhtar's “The Archies”, a live-action adaptation of the iconic 1960s animated series featuring a fictional rock band. The cast includes Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi "Dot" Saigal, and Yuvraj Menda.

Meanwhile, Amitabh continues to host the latest season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Hindi version of the popular quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. Contestants answer multiple-choice questions and have lifelines to assist them, with the show airing on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.

Point of View

The postponement of ‘Ikkis’ reflects the dynamic nature of the film industry, where release dates are often adjusted to maximize audience reach and box office success. The involvement of prominent figures like Amitabh Bachchan and the film's historical context adds significant interest. It is imperative to recognize the potential impact this film could have in celebrating historical narratives in Indian cinema.
