Los Angeles, May 10 (NationPress) Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron shares that her kids are somewhat less than impressed with her accomplishments.
In a recent segment on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Theron jokingly remarked: "My children have absolutely no respect for me. It's hard to believe; I consider myself quite humble, but every now and then, I think, 'There’s an Oscar right there.' They remain unfazed by my career."
The 49-year-old star, who is a mother to adopted daughters Jackson and August, reminisced about a moment when one of her kids expressed admiration for another actor, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.
She recalled, "Yesterday, while picking up my youngest from dance class, we drove past a new 'Mission Impossible' poster featuring Tom Cruise clinging to a yellow plane, looking incredibly cool.
"My kids witnessed me filming 'Old Guard 2' and I executed an elaborate sequence where we enlisted an incredible helicopter pilot, Fred North. We choreographed this stunning scene of me battling helicopters and leaping onto a real helicopter, shooting nearly all of it as the helicopter attempted to shake me off like a rag doll.
"We spent about two weeks on this sequence, and I thought, ‘Wow, I just accomplished that, it’s truly incredible.’ But then my child glanced at Tom Cruise's poster and said, ‘It’s odd; he looks way cooler than you did while hanging off the helicopter.’ I was like, ‘I hung off the helicopter, can I get some credit?’"
Additionally, Theron has expressed her commitment to teaching her children the importance of acceptance.
In her conversation on 'RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked', she stated: "I want [my children] to flourish in a world where they understand the value of embracing differences and to not fear them. My duty as a mother is to guide them through this. We live in an era where our words can be easily turned against us.
"I worry about humanity and our actions towards one another, and I recognize the strength in love versus hate. One can destroy, while the other builds."
