Mumbai, June 16 (NationPress) The request made by Deepika Padukone for an 8-hour work shift following the arrival of her daughter Dua has sparked a lively debate within the film industry regarding the post-motherhood working conditions for actresses.
Adding her perspective to the discussion, actress Chitrangda Singh remarked that the outcome largely hinges on the relationship an actor has with their director and producer.
In a conversation with IANS, Chitrangda stated, "This concerns the personal rapport between an actor and their director, as well as the demands from both the director and producer. If feasible, I'm sure they will accommodate. However, there are often limitations—such as time, finances, and scheduling—that can make it challenging. It's important to acknowledge that aspect, as in this industry, time is money—everyone invests in a project."
"Ultimately, I believe it is a personal choice for everyone, and I think Deepika is a top-tier actress; she has every right to make her own choices," she concluded.
For those unaware, Deepika was substituted by Triptii Dimri in the highly anticipated drama "Spirit" directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga after she allegedly raised several working conditions as a new mother.
Reports suggest that Deepika requested eight-hour shifts from the director, along with a pay increase and a portion of the film’s profits. It is also claimed that she was unwilling to speak the Telugu lines in the film, asking for them to be dubbed instead.
Deepika and her husband Ranveer Singh welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on September 8, 2024.
Meanwhile, Chitrangda recently starred in Tarun Mansukhani's "Housefull 5" alongside an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonam Bajwa, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, and Fardeen Khan.
The fifth installment of the 'Housefull' franchise was released in theaters on June 6.
