Guwahati, June 17 (NationPress) On a comprehensive visit to Assam's Lakhimpur district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially launched and laid the groundwork for several development initiatives valued at nearly Rs 110 crore, as reported by officials.

Among the projects inaugurated was the new office for the Chief Executive Officer of the Lakhimpur Zilla Parishad in Borimuri, constructed at a cost of Rs 4 crore. Additionally, a centralized community kitchen by the Akshaya Patra Foundation in Bebejia Kumar Tup, with an estimated construction cost of Rs 26 crore, was also announced.

On this occasion, CM Sarma performed the bhoomi pujan for an eco-park in northern Lakhimpur, which will be developed on 16 bighas of land at a cost of Rs 4.25 crore, and for the second phase of the North Lakhimpur Urban Water Supply Scheme, projected at Rs 65 crore.

He also inaugurated new facilities at the Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, which include a vocational training institute, guest house, indoor stadium, gymnasium, and canteen, all built at a total cost of Rs 10.7 crore.

Speaking to a public gathering at Tyag Kshetra in North Lakhimpur, CM Sarma reiterated that the state government is committed to advancing the development of both Lakhimpur town and the surrounding district.

He noted that alongside the establishment of institutions such as Madhabdev University and Lakhimpur Medical College, efforts are in progress to improve the infrastructure of the district's spiritual centers.

Highlighting significant infrastructural developments, CM Sarma mentioned a bridge over the Subansiri River, which will connect North Lakhimpur to Ghunasuti, thus linking Lakhimpur with Dhemaji via Dhakuakhana.

The Chief Minister also pointed to ongoing projects such as a stadium in Chaboti, an inter-state bus terminal, a library, the North Lakhimpur Bypass, a government law college, a nursing college, and a cancer hospital, which are revolutionizing the district's civic landscape.

He stated that through sustained government initiatives over the past four-and-a-half years, the districts of Biswanath, Lakhimpur, and Dhemaji have emerged as some of the most developed in the state.

Moreover, in parallel with infrastructure advancements, the state government continues to roll out various welfare schemes aimed at uplifting the underprivileged, with several set to launch between August and December this year.
