Lucknow, Oct 27 (NationPress) The Yogi administration in Uttar Pradesh is undertaking significant measures to transform basic education into a more experiential, skill-oriented, and forward-looking approach.
Shifting away from traditional rote learning, the government is implementing innovative teaching methodologies that foster a culture of “learning by doing.”
This initiative includes a comprehensive action plan to apply the LBD (Learning by Doing) model across 3,288 selected council schools and DIET institutions throughout the state.
To support this initiative, a three-day skill-oriented train-the-trainer program will commence for 1,888 teachers at the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya State Rural Development Institute in Lucknow, starting from November 3, 2025. This will be followed by training for 1,400 science and mathematics educators at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Lucknow, running from February 16 to March 18, 2026.
Conducted over 66 residential batches, the program aims to equip educators with practical pedagogical skills that merge classroom learning with experiments, projects, models, and real-world applications.
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh stressed that the objective is to transform classrooms in Uttar Pradesh into environments that inspire students to understand, explore, and discover, rather than simply memorize.
This initiative is in line with the goals set by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the shifting requirements of a skill-oriented, innovation-driven, and AI-enhanced economy.
Experts in education observe that when children engage in experimentation, play, inquiry, and independent problem-solving, their curiosity, analytical skills, scientific outlook, expression, and problem-solving abilities are significantly enhanced. This encapsulates the essence of “learning by doing,” which transforms children from passive recipients of information into active participants in their learning journey.
The training program signifies a pivotal step toward fostering a new educational culture in Uttar Pradesh, where schools evolve into vibrant laboratories of experience rather than mere instructional centers.
This initiative will cultivate a generation that is more capable, confident, and innovative, thereby reinforcing the state’s responsibility in shaping a new, empowered India.
Monika Rani, the Director General of School Education, stated, “Our objective is to ensure that children can freely inquire, that school laboratories buzz with energy, and that teachers become catalysts for inspiring thought and innovation in every classroom. This will redefine the essence of basic education in Uttar Pradesh.”
