Mumbai, Sep 22 (NationPress) Fans of cinema were taken aback when Bollywood star Deepika Padukone was dropped from the much-awaited sequel of Kalki AD 2898. The production team, Vyjayanthi Movies, confirmed her departure, stating that the film necessitates significant dedication, suggesting that Deepika's rising popularity may have hinted at her perceived lack of commitment.

In an official statement shared on their X (formerly Twitter) account, Vyjayanthi Movies announced, "We regret to inform that @deepikapadukone will no longer participate in the upcoming sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. After thorough deliberation, we have opted to part ways. Despite the long journey of crafting the first film, a partnership could not be established. A project like Kalki 2898 AD demands unwavering dedication and more. We wish her success in her future endeavors (sic)."

Responding to this news, Deepika posted a thought-provoking message on her Instagram, stating, "The individuals you collaborate with hold more importance than a film's success."

She revealed that she has begun filming for Shah Rukh Khan's King, mentioning, "The first lesson he imparted to me nearly 18 years ago during Om Shanti Om was that the journey of filmmaking, along with the people involved, is far more vital than just the success of the film. I wholeheartedly agree and have applied that principle to every choice I’ve made since. Perhaps that’s why we are collaborating on our sixth film together? (sic)"

In Kalki AD 2898, Deepika portrayed SUM-80, also known as Sumathi, a pregnant lab subject of Project K, and the foretold mother of Kalki, with significant screen presence.

Conversely, reports suggest that her character in King may not be as pivotal compared to her role in Kalki.

This film, directed by Siddharth Anand, tells the gripping tale of a formidable crime lord (played by Shah Rukh Khan) guiding his daughter (played by Suhana Khan) through a perilous environment.
