Denzel Washington Embraces Faith with Baptism and Minister's License

Los Angeles, Dec 23 (NationPress) After declaring that religion is not trendy in Hollywood, the celebrated two-time Academy Award recipient actor Denzel Washington has taken a significant step by being baptized and becoming a minister.
The renowned actor was baptized, obtaining a baptism certificate as well as a minister's license, which allows him the opportunity for future ordination, as reported by deadline.com.
This momentous occasion took place at the Kelly Temple Church of God in Christ situated in Harlem, New York City, according to Today. The First Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ Eastern New York broadcasted the service live on Facebook.
Washington expressed, “In one week I turn 70. It took a while, but I’m here.”
He also took a moment to express his gratitude towards his wife, Pauletta Washington.
The award-winning actor has previously been candid about his faith, stating to Esquire last month that while discussions on religion are infrequent in Hollywood, he remains steadfast in sharing his beliefs and experiences.
“I’m unafraid. I don’t care what anyone thinks. You see, discussing the fear aspect—you can’t express such thoughts and achieve Oscars. You can’t voice that and enjoy social events. You can’t say that in this industry,” he wrote in an essay featured in the magazine.
He elaborated, “It’s not fashionable. It’s not glamorous. But that doesn’t imply that individuals in Hollywood lack belief. There’s no entity called Hollywood anyway. What does that even signify? To me, it refers to a street named Hollywood Boulevard. It’s not as if we all gather somewhere to deliberate our beliefs.”
“So I’m uncertain how many other actors possess faith. I haven’t conducted any surveys. How would I discover that? I mean, there’s no Actor Church Meetings I’ve attended.”
Next on Washington’s agenda is Spike Lee’s Apple Original project “Highest 2 Lowest,” featuring A$AP Rocky and Ice Spice.
