Chennai, Jan 8 (NationPress) According to industry insiders, director Mohan G's highly anticipated Tamil-Telugu historical piece, 'Draupathi 2', is confirmed to grace the screens this Pongal.
A source associated with the film's production stated, "The film is definitely set for a Pongal release. It will premiere on one of the festival days. The team is finalizing the specifics, but it is definitely coming for Pongal."
Initially, the filmmakers considered a release on January 23 due to other significant releases like actor Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' and Sivakathikeyan's 'Parasakthi'. They even contemplated a later release before the month concluded.
With the announcement of Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' being delayed, a gap has emerged in the Pongal release schedule, creating an opportunity for other filmmakers to debut their completed projects.
Produced by Chola Chakravarthy under Netaji Productions in collaboration with G. M Film Corporation, 'Draupathi 2' has sparked considerable excitement among fans.
The narrative is said to take place in the 14th century, focusing on the reign of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III and the bravery of the Kadavarayas of Sendhamangalam, alongside the tumultuous changes brought about by the Mughal invasion of Tamil Nadu.
Alongside Richard Rishi and Rakshana Induchoodan, actor-cinematographer Natti Natraj will portray a pivotal role.
