Mumbai, July 6 (NationPress) Actor Rajniesh Duggal has publicly expressed his support for Diljit Dosanjh amidst the ongoing controversy related to “Sardaar Ji 3.”
In light of the criticism that the singer-actor has been enduring, Duggal stated that he does not perceive Diljit as someone who ever aimed to offend anyone's feelings, suggesting that his intentions may have been misinterpreted. In a candid interview with IANS, Duggal shared his admiration for Diljit’s artistic contributions. The Wajah Tum Ho star also expressed his excitement about Diljit's return in “Border 2.”
He emphasized that artists often have limited influence over every aspect of their projects and conveyed his hope for a swift resolution to the situation. Rajniesh Duggal remarked, “Diljit Dosanjh is exceptional — I’m a fan! He’s remarkable, and I don’t think he ever aimed to offend anyone. I’m thrilled he’s returning in Border 2. Sometimes, circumstances are beyond an artist’s control. I remain optimistic that everything will be resolved, allowing us to see him shine on screen once more.”
Recently, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has temporarily lifted its non-cooperation directive against Diljit Dosanjh. While the ban remains in effect for his other projects, an exception has been made to permit him to work on “Border 2.” FWICE President BN Tiwari stated that this decision followed a personal appeal from producer Bhushan Kumar for Diljit to resume filming for the forthcoming war drama.
Tiwari shared with IANS, “If considering a request is pressure, then it can be termed that. We have strong relations with T-Series. We visited them four times and cautioned them about continuing the shoot, yet they persistently sought another opportunity. They struggled to assemble a different cast for their film. When they demonstrated their inability, it was our responsibility to devise a solution, given that it involved our country's finances.”
The FWICE president further disclosed that the filmmakers had sought the federation's permission for Diljit to stay involved in the film, as a substantial portion of the shoot had already been completed. Substituting him at this juncture would complicate the effort to recreate the same ensemble for the war drama.
