Did Ektaa Kapoor Really Cry During the Narration of 'Laila Majnu'?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 9 (NationPress) Producer Ektaa Kapoor reminisced about a poignant moment when she shed tears during the narration of the 2018 romantic drama 'Laila Majnu'.
She shared that as director Sajid Ali unveiled the script, she became so overwhelmed with emotion that he had to pause the narration because of her tears.
Ektaa mentioned that she has only cried during a script reading on three occasions. The other instances were during the first episode of the acclaimed series 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and when Vidya Balan's character met her demise in 'The Dirty Picture'.
In a post on her official Instagram, she wrote, "There are just three times in a narration when I have cried: once during the first episode of Kyunki when Mihir recalls a birthday, second during the narration of The Dirty Picture when Silk dies, and third during this scene, where I had to pause the narration because I was sobbing so much. Sajid Ali was taken aback. I needed five minutes to gather myself!"
Describing the impactful scene from 'Laila Majnu', she expressed, "The moment remains just as powerful as when I first heard it. You can visualize the moment when you see your beloved and faint. Laila has heard countless times that Qais is enjoying life in London, but when she encounters a frail version of the man she adored, she realizes that she doesn't need anyone's falsehoods anymore. She understands that his soul has longed for her, just as hers has for him."
Featuring Avinash Tiwary and newcomer Triptii Dimri, this film offers a contemporary take on the timeless Arabic tragedy Layla and Majnun. The narrative revolves around two lovers, Laila (played by Triptii Dimri) and Qais Bhatt (played by Avinash Tiwary), who face insurmountable obstacles to their union due to familial opposition.
