Los Angeles, March 10 (NationPress) Hollywood star Elijah Wood is being strategic regarding his possible reprisal as Frodo in the upcoming film directed by Andy Serkis, titled ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’.

While the actor has not made any definitive statements about his return, he expressed that he wouldn’t want anyone else to don the role as long as he is “alive and capable” of portraying the character, as reported by ‘Deadline’.

He acknowledged that co-star Ian McKellen hinted at details about the new project during a fan convention last year.

In an interview with The Times U.K., he remarked, “Although it hasn’t been formally confirmed, Ian let the cat out of the bag at a convention last August. Therefore, there’s a strong possibility. I can’t officially comment until it’s announced, but I’m genuinely excited about the idea of another film.”

He further noted, “It’s always a bit nerve-wracking when discussions arise about new films set in Middle-earth. Everyone feels protective and hopes for the story's integrity, but this narrative is enjoyable and exhilarating. There’s a real sense of reuniting the original cast.”

According to ‘Deadline’, the film is slated for release in late 2027 and will explore the events that transpired between the conclusion of ‘The Hobbit’ prequel trilogy and the onset of ‘The Lord of the Rings’.

When asked about Ian McKellen’s insistence that no one else should portray Gandalf, Elijah stated, “I understand completely, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to play Frodo either while I’m alive and able. I’m also a fan and am looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds when you’re in the theater and see Gandalf appear.”

Since the launch of ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ in 2001, the first entry in Peter Jackson’s trilogy, Wood has soared to new heights of fame as he took on the pivotal role of Frodo, the hero of J.R.R. Tolkien’s tales, entrusted with a noble mission to save Middle-earth.
