Mumbai, Feb 4 (NationPress) Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, recognized for his recent appearance in the streaming series ‘Showtime’, has delivered an important message to the people of India on World Cancer Day.
In a heartfelt video message, Emraan Hashmi reflected on his son Ayaan's cancer diagnosis, highlighting the critical nature of early detection in combating the disease. He stated, “When my son Ayaan was diagnosed with cancer, our lives changed drastically. However, with his strength and the immense support we received, we realized the importance of early detection and timely treatment in this fight.”
The actor praised government initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat and PMJAY for their significant contributions to cancer care.
He expressed, “As parents, the journey can feel daunting, but programs like Ayushman Bharat and PMJAY are truly transformative. These initiatives are making cancer treatment more accessible and affordable for countless families across India, alleviating financial stress and providing hope. On this World Cancer Day, I encourage everyone to get screened regularly, promote awareness, and ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, receive the care they need. Let’s continue to fight together because every life is valuable.”
Ayaan was diagnosed with early-stage cancer in January 2014 and was declared cancer-free five years later, in January 2019.
Previously, during the promotional activities for ‘Showtime’, Emraan mentioned that he does not see himself as a producer.
He remarked, “I don’t believe I’m suited for the role of a producer. I did produce one film, but I was more of a silent producer while also acting in it, so my producer role took a backseat. I am more of a creative individual than a business-minded one. Though I have a commerce degree, there's a running joke in my family that I wanted to pursue the arts, but ended up in commerce, and I still make mistakes when signing checks. There’s always someone watching over me to ensure I do everything correctly.”
