Mumbai, Feb 4 (NationPress) Actress and cancer advocate Sonali Bendre expressed her admiration for the Ayushman Bharat initiative on World Cancer Day, calling it a “game changer.”

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 23, 2018, the Ayushman Bharat Yojana has become a source of hope for many families in India, allowing them to receive free treatment for severe illnesses in both private and public hospitals. This initiative alleviates the financial strain associated with healthcare, ensuring that even the most economically disadvantaged individuals can access life-saving medical services.

Sonali, who faced her own battle with high-grade cancer in 2018, stated: “On this World Cancer Day, I want to address a harsh truth. Cancer impacts millions of lives annually, and late diagnosis often complicates effective treatment.”

She emphasized the importance of early detection in combating cancer.

“However, many face significant hurdles in accessing quality healthcare. This is why initiatives like Ayushman Bharat are revolutionary. By offering accessible and affordable healthcare, countless families can now pursue timely cancer treatment and crucial early detection. The impact is tangible.”

She added: “Financial obstacles are being dismantled, and individuals are finding the courage to confront cancer. Let us persist in advocating for improved cancer care and work towards a healthier future. Together, we can make a difference.”

World Cancer Day, observed on February 4, aims to raise awareness about cancer and promote its prevention, detection, and treatment. The main objective is to drastically lower the incidence and mortality associated with cancer, while uniting the global community to eradicate the injustice of preventable suffering caused by this disease.
