Will 'Parasakthi' Captivate Audiences with Its Sixties Drama This Pongal?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Jan 4 (NationPress) The team behind director Sudha Kongara's highly anticipated period drama, 'Parasakthi', starring actors Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela, has unveiled an exciting trailer, much to the joy of fans and cinephiles.
Originally slated for release on January 14, the film's premiere has been moved up to January 10 to coincide with the Pongal festival.
Actor Sivakarthikeyan took to his social media platforms to share the trailer, stating, "Thee Paravattum (Let the fire spread!) #ParasakthiTrailer. #Parasakthi #ParasakthiFromJan10."
The trailer opens with a dramatic fight between Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan atop a moving train, set in the year 1964. Sivakarthikeyan portrays an engine driver working for the railways, and his Hindi-speaking co-driver urges him to communicate in Hindi. In a light-hearted moment, he responds in broken Hindi, "When a Madharasi goes to Delhi, he'll speak in Hindi. Similarly, when a Hindi guy comes to Madurai, he must speak in Tamil."
The trailer also highlights the close relationship between Sivakarthikeyan and his on-screen younger brother Atharvaa. Meanwhile, Sreeleela plays a newsreader in Tamil, whose presence seems to irritate her superior, who feels she was hired through favoritism.
As the plot unfolds, it reveals that a new law is being introduced to declare Hindi as the official language across all states. An elderly character, presumably the hero's grandmother, laments, "I, who have studied up to the eighth grade, have been rendered illiterate."
Atharvaa expresses frustration over his brother working under a government that imposes Hindi. Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan attempts to learn Hindi, seeking Sreeleela's help, who teasingly criticizes his efforts.
The narrative shifts to a more serious tone as Atharvaa joins the protests against the imposition of Hindi. Ravi Mohan appears as a merciless officer sent from Delhi to quash the dissent. Initially scolding his brother, Sivakarthikeyan is eventually drawn into leading a student-led resistance movement against the oppressive actions of those in power...
The film has generated significant buzz among fans and moviegoers alike. Notably, Sivakarthikeyan began dubbing for the project in the final week of November.
Dawn Pictures released footage of the actor dubbing under the watchful eye of director Sudha Kongara, stating, "When his voice turns into a storm.@sivakarthikeyan begins dubbing for #Parasakthi - Coming to theatres on January 14th."
Both Sreeleela, the female lead, and Ravi Mohan, who plays the antagonist, have completed their dubbing. Remarkably, Sreeleela has lent her own voice to her character.
The production team confirmed on October 21 that filming had wrapped, with the Pollachi schedule concluding in August.
It is worth noting that the first schedule of 'Parasakthi' took place in Madurai, followed by a second schedule in Sri Lanka, and the third in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu.
As 'Parasakthi' is Sivakarthikeyan's 25th film, also known as #SK25, it features music by G V Prakash and cinematography by renowned cameraman Ravi K Chandran. The action sequences are choreographed by Supreme Sundar.
