Los Angeles, Jan 3 (NationPress) Actor Finn Wolfhard, best known for his role as Mike Wheeler in “Stranger Things”, recently shared insights into his journey back to the “IT” universe and the challenges of achieving fame at such a young age.
Having wrapped up the first season of the spin-off series IT: Welcome to Derry, Wolfhard hinted at a potential return to the IT franchise in the future. He portrayed Richie Tozier in the 2017 film It and its sequel It: Chapter Two. The character’s legacy continues in the 2025 spin-off series, maintaining Richie’s impact within the IT universe.
When asked if he was aware of a picture of Richie appearing in Welcome to Derry, Wolfhard revealed: “I actually knew about that years ago. When they first began conceptualizing the show, it was probably around 2021.”
“(Creators) Barbara and Andy Muschietti both informed me, ‘You’re part of this.’ Yes, I’m linked to it. I believe there’s more that will emerge eventually, and I’m eager for the audience to see it.”
Reflecting on his rapid rise to fame, the actor described it as a surreal and challenging journey, growing up under the public eye, according to reports by femalefirst.co.uk.
He expressed: “No one can truly prepare anyone for that. It was incredibly thrilling, but there was a phase during my teenage years where it felt arduous.”
IT, adapted from Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel, narrates the story of a group of bullied children known as the Losers’ Club in the town of Derry, who unite as children begin to vanish mysteriously.
As they confront their deepest fears, the Losers’ Club uncovers that the terror haunting them is a shape-shifting evil that thrives on fear and never truly disappears.
Alongside Wolfhard, IT features Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Chosen Jacobs as Mike Hanlon, Jaeden Martell as Bill Denbrough, Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie Kaspbrak, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley Uris, and Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
Following the two films, the IT narrative expands with the prequel series IT: Welcome to Derry, which explores the origins of Pennywise and the dark history of Derry.
