Los Angeles, April 1 (NationPress) Director Sam Mendes is currently developing four films centered around the iconic rock band 'The Beatles'.

The excitement continues to build as all four films are scheduled for theatrical release in April 2028, according to 'Variety'.

The director, who shared the news at CinemaCon, also revealed the much-discussed casting. Paul Mescal will portray Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn will take on the role of George Harrison, Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr, and Harris Dickinson will embody John Lennon.

According to 'Variety', the four actors appeared on stage and performed a bow reminiscent of the style popularized by the band during their prime.

Sam Mendes assured that the multi-part biographical series, officially titled 'The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event', will represent the “first binge-able theatrical experience.” It remains to be seen whether this implies simultaneous release or a weekly rollout.

“We need significant cinematic events to draw audiences back into theaters,” the director stated to theater owners during Sony's presentation on Monday.

The acclaimed director, known for films such as 'American Beauty' and 'Skyfall', has aspired to bring the Fab Four to the big screen for years. He felt that a mini-series wouldn't suffice, as “the narrative was too expansive to condense into a single film.”

Thus, he devised a strategy to narrate the tale of “the greatest band in history” from each member’s perspective, aiming to encapsulate their extraordinary journey from Liverpool to the epicenter of global culture.

This approach necessitated four distinct films, marking one of the largest gambles in cinematic history. “It’s an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of them,” Sam Mendes affirmed.

This film project is also the first narrative feature to receive music rights to the extensive catalog of The Beatles' classic hits, including 'Strawberry Fields', 'Let It Be', 'I Am the Walrus', 'Yellow Submarine', and many more.
