Mumbai, Sep 12 (NationPress) Actress Geeta Basra has revealed her thoughts on returning to the film industry after a significant hiatus, expressing that being back on set feels like a dream fulfilled.
She also noted the industry's transformation, highlighting how it has become increasingly inclusive for women post-marriage.
In a recent interview with IANS, the 'Mehar' actress described her comeback after an extended break as a “joyous return,” characterizing the experience as a dream realized. When asked about her emotions on returning to the set after so many years, Geeta remarked, “It’s my happy place. Being on set is my dream, and I feel fortunate to have another shot. Fifteen years ago, it was challenging for women to return after marriage, but now we see a shift. The times have evolved, and it hardly matters now.”
Geeta also discussed her recent magazine feature alongside her husband, cricketer Harbhajan Singh. She expressed, “Being featured with legends and extraordinary individuals is a source of pride. Andrea ji and her team have done a fantastic job, and it’s truly an honor for us. We look forward to more collaborations in the future.”
When asked about how the decision was made to feature her and Harbhajan on the cover, she explained, “Andrea, Shivendra, and the team were brainstorming cover stars. Shivendra suggested Harbhajan’s name, and everyone immediately agreed it was perfect. Soon, both of us were approached, and everything aligned beautifully. The timing was ideal—my film had just released, I had entered production, and we were part of a wonderful show that is being well-received.”
For those who may not know, Geeta Basra, recognized for her performances in films like “The Train” and “Dil Diya Hai,” took a nine-year hiatus from acting to dedicate time to her family after marrying cricketer-turned-politician Harbhajan Singh.
After a decade-long break, she made a remarkable return with the Punjabi film “Mehar.” Directed by Rakesh Mehta, “Mehar” also marked the acting debut of businessman Raj Kundra. The film hit theaters on September 5, 2025.
