Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Jan 22 (NationPress) Actress Genelia Deshmukh has embarked on a new journey in her career by commencing work on the film “Gunmaaster G9”, which stars Emraan Hashmi, marking it as a moment of “new beginnings.”
Genelia provided a subtle peek into this fresh chapter by sharing a serene side profile of her face on her Instagram Stories. With a minimalist yet impactful touch, she included a “New Beginning” sticker in her post and captioned it with #GunmaasterG9.
The film “Gunmaster G9”, directed by Aditya Datt, is an action-packed adventure featuring Aparshakti Khurana alongside Emraan. This movie is inspired by the classic 1979 Indian spy film Surakksha, where the original Gunmaster G9 character was portrayed by Mithun Chakraborty. The film’s soundtrack is being composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
In addition to this project, Genelia is also set to appear in Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming horror-comedy “Police Station Mein Bhoot”, featuring Manoj Bajpayee. This marks the first time the two actors will share the screen.
Expressing her enthusiasm about working with Manoj, Genelia shared in September 2025 on her official Instagram: “First time stepping into a world where fear meets fun. Had a scarily good time sharing the screen with @bajpayee.manoj in POLICE STATION MEIN BHOOT, directed by the maverick @RGVzoomin.”
She added, “A thriller like no other, built on a chilling thought: ‘When we’re scared, we run to the police. But where do the police run when they’re scared?’ #PoliceStationMeinBhoot.”
Genelia began her acting journey with the Hindi film Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003, gaining recognition with the Tamil film Boys that same year. She has received acclaim for her roles in romantic comedies such as Santosh Subramaniam and Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na.
Her filmography includes titles like Satyam, Masti, Sye, Sachein, Happy, Dhee, Ready, Katha, Urumi, Force, Velayudham, and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya.
After her marriage to Riteish Deshmukh, with whom she shares two sons, Genelia took a significant break from acting. She made her comeback with the Marathi film Ved in 2022.
