Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Jan 22 (NationPress) Actress Genelia Deshmukh has embarked on her journey for her upcoming film “Gunmaaster G9”, featuring Emraan Hashmi, proclaiming it as a phase of “new beginnings.”
Genelia offered a subtle peek into this new chapter through her Instagram Stories, sharing an image that displayed a soft profile of her face. The post was minimal yet significant, adorned with a “New Beginning” sticker, accompanied by the caption #GunmaasterG9.
The film “Gunmaster G9” is a thrilling action piece directed by Aditya Datt, featuring Aparshakti Khurana. This new project draws inspiration from the classic 1979 Indian spy film Surakksha, which introduced the original Gunmaster G9 character played by Mithun Chakraborty. The film's soundtrack will be crafted by Himesh Reshammiya.
In addition to this, Genelia is set to appear in Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming horror comedy “Police Station Mein Bhoot” alongside Manoj Bajpayee. This collaboration marks the first time Genelia and Manoj will share screen space.
Expressing her enthusiasm about working with Manoj, she shared in September 2025 on her Instagram: “First time stepping into a world where fear meets fun. Had a scarily good time sharing the screen with @bajpayee.manoj in POLICE STATION MEIN BHOOT, directed by the maverick @RGVzoomin.”
She described the film as “A thriller like no other, built on a chilling thought: ‘When we’re scared, we run to the police. But where do the police run when they’re scared?’ #PoliceStationMeinBhoot,” adding a touch of intrigue to the project.
Genelia began her acting journey with the Hindi film Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003 and gained fame in the Tamil film Boys the same year. She received accolades for her roles in the 2008 romantic comedies Santosh Subramaniam and Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na.
Her filmography includes notable works like Satyam, Masti, Sye, Sachein, Happy, Dhee, Ready, Katha, Urumi, Force, Velayudham, and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya.
After marrying Riteish Deshmukh, with whom she has two sons, she took a significant break from acting. However, she made her comeback with the Marathi film Ved in 2022.
