Los Angeles, April 3 (NationPress) Hollywood star Ryan Gosling has nailed his appearance in his forthcoming film. The actor portrays a science educator who reluctantly becomes an astronaut in ‘Project Hail Mary’.
The actor appears quite nerdy and far from his Ken persona in this new project. This film, a thrilling sci-fi adventure, was teased by Amazon MGM Studios during their presentation at CinemaCon, as reported by Variety.
“I put the ‘not’ in astronaut,” Gosling quips to the government official (played by Sandra Huller) who has recruited him for a perilous space mission. “I can’t even moonwalk.”
According to Variety, the movie is based on Andy Weir's bestselling novel of the same name and follows an average man who is propelled into a journey to the outer universe. “You have the right stuff,” Gosling tells Huller. “I have the wrong stuff.”
Despite his hesitations, the stakes are high. A catastrophic event threatens his reality. “The world is counting on you,” Huller insists.
The trailer released by Amazon MGM Studios features Gosling and his small team in space, marveling at a stunning array of stars, all set to the melody of Harry Styles’ ‘Sign of the Times’. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, known for ‘The Lego Movie’ and ‘21 Jump Street’, the film is adapted from a script by Drew Goddard, who also adapted Weir’s ‘The Martian’ into a successful film starring Matt Damon. Similar to that movie, ‘Project Hail Mary’ appears to blend humor with grand visuals.
“It’s an incredibly ambitious narrative that is vast in scope, and it seemed quite challenging to produce, which is exactly what we enjoy,” Gosling stated after presenting the footage.
“This is why we go to cinemas,” he remarked. “I’m not just saying this because I’m involved; I’m also saying it as a producer of the film.”
