Chennai, Feb 25 (NationPress) Hemnath Narayanan, the visionary behind the upcoming horror flick Murmur, which is recognized as Tamil cinema’s inaugural found footage horror film, asserts that his creation is set to genuinely shake audiences.

In a conversation with IANS, Hemnath discussed the inspiration behind crafting a found footage horror film, stating, “As a lifelong film enthusiast, I often pondered why such genres weren’t explored in Tamil cinema, especially after watching iconic Hollywood titles like The Blair Witch Project. Eventually, as I delved into filmmaking, we decided to embark on a project in this genre.”

Regarding Murmur, he elaborates, “This film represents a fresh approach for the Tamil industry as a found footage horror movie. It deliberately omits a background score. The plot revolves around a group of YouTubers on a paranormal quest in the Jawath Hills, seeking footage of seven hermits and a sorcerer spirit. Following their mysterious disappearance, the police launch an investigation and utilize footage from their damaged cameras to create a documentary. Our film encapsulates those events.”

Hemnath emphasizes that Murmur is not a film audiences will easily forget. “Typically, viewers shake off the fear from horror films within minutes post-viewing. However, my film will linger in their minds for a much longer duration.”

Slated for a global release on March 7, Murmur has already sparked interest among cinema lovers for being the first found footage horror film in Tamil cinema.

Written and directed by Hemnath Narayanan, the film is produced by Prabhakaran of S.P.K. Pictures in collaboration with Stand Alone Pictures International.
