Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, March 5 (NationPress) Actress and singer Hilary Duff revealed that she dedicated a significant portion of her childhood and teenage years to working on film and television sets instead of attending school, resulting in what she described as having received “zero education.”
During a recent appearance on the Table Manners podcast hosted by Jessie Ware and her mother Lennie, Duff shared her experiences regarding the lack of a conventional education path as a young star.
“I received zero education, but I’ve gained knowledge in various areas,” said Duff. When asked if she had been homeschooled, she hesitated, recalling that her mother suggested, “Can you just go get your GED (General Educational Development)?”
Although Duff never obtained her GED, she expressed satisfaction with her current level of education, according to reports from people.com. “I feel like I’ve self-educated in subjects that interest me,” she noted.
“I love reading,” she added. “While I don’t have as much time as I’d like to read, I truly enjoy it.”
When questioned about the possibility of returning to school as an adult, Duff responded, “I think I’ve moved past worrying about my education because I’ve developed strengths in other areas that serve me well.”
She continued, “I’m not afraid to ask questions about things I don’t know.”
Duff acknowledged that her life was different from many others, stating, “I don’t need to feel embarrassed about not knowing when a particular war occurred. There’s Google and ChatGPT for that.”
She also discussed the valuable lessons she learns from her 13-year-old son, Luca, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie. “Connecting with my child and having him teach me new things because he is receiving an excellent education has been amazing,” said Duff, who is also the mother of three daughters with husband Matthew Koma.
Regarding her children’s futures, Duff emphasized that “it will be far more important for them” to receive a solid education.
