Mumbai, December 19 (NationPress) – The director of 'Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, Honey Trehan, has shared his thoughts regarding the ongoing debate about work hours in the entertainment industry, a topic that has garnered significant attention recently.
In a conversation with IANS, he pointed out that ultimately, the matter rests between the director, the producer, and the actor involved, and should not be exaggerated.
“This is a subjective issue, and the dynamics within the community play a crucial role,” Honey remarked.
“It’s not merely a question of 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts. If someone faces a genuine issue, we should show understanding,” he added.
As Honey gears up for the release of his film, he praised actress Radhika Apte, who recently embraced motherhood with a one-year-old child, for her dedication and professionalism.
“Whenever I needed Radhika for an additional 6 hours or an extra shooting day, she has been incredibly accommodating. She has always made it work,” Honey stated.
He further mentioned, “Radhika even postponed her flight to fulfill her professional obligations. Therefore, I consider this entire discussion to be highly subjective and quite minor. We can collaboratively find solutions; it shouldn’t be seen as a significant problem.”
Actress Chitrangada Singh, who plays a vital role in Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, added her perspective during her conversation with IANS.
“It’s a subjective scenario that hinges on personal relationships. Strict rules can’t be imposed in this industry as it operates differently. If a scene must be completed by 3 a.m., then it has to be done, regardless of the time,” she explained.
“Unlike a corporate environment, where one clocks in and out, filmmaking requires flexibility. I’m unsure if it will ever become fully corporatized—perhaps it will, or perhaps it won’t. But there’s an inherently human aspect to this field,” the actress elaborated.
Chitrangada concluded by saying, “People are aware of each other’s limitations. Actors often grasp a director’s challenges; sometimes unexpected situations arise, like weather changes. These are factors we must navigate. That’s the nature of our industry.”
