Los Angeles, June 10 (NationPress) Hollywood star Hugh Jackman had a rather uncomfortable audition experience for 'Les Miserables'. The actor felt like fleeing the audition due to overwhelming feelings of 'humiliation'.
Jackman disclosed that he auditioned for the role of Jean Valjean in the 2012 film and performed the song 'Stars' in front of a panel of executives. However, his voice faltered on the last note, leaving him feeling utterly embarrassed, according to reports from Female First UK.
While performing at 'An Evening With Hugh Jackman' at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, he recounted, 'I read first and I could tell it was going well. Then I sang and I cracked on the final note so spectacularly. Like it was the worst crack you could have ever imagined. Whatever excitement was on the panel, it just deflated immediately. I was about to run out, just humiliated.'
According to Variety, Jackman further added, 'But then the guy goes, 'Whoa, hold on a second. Why did you sing that song?' I said, 'It's the only thing I had music for. I'm sorry.' And he said, 'Well, you can throw that away. You'll never sing that again.' I think what he meant to say was, 'Why don't you put that to the side for like 30 years when you might sing it at the Hollywood Bowl?''
Ultimately, Jackman secured the role and received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. The film won three Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway, along with Best Sound Mixing and Best Make-up and Hairstyling.
As reported by Female First UK, the actor is set to showcase his vocal talents on screen once again, portraying a Neil Diamond impersonator in the upcoming film 'Song Sung Blue'.
Jackman stars alongside Kate Hudson, who released her debut album Glorious last year, playing real-life couple Mike and Claire Sardina, who were known for their tribute act, Lightning and Thunder.
The film is inspired by the 2008 documentary 'Song Sung Blue', which chronicled the couple's journey. Recently, Kate shared a picture of the duo performing together on-screen via Instagram.
