Mumbai, April 8 (NationPress) Indian filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is preparing for the premiere of his latest movie 'Main Vapas Aaunga' and has disclosed why he opted to collaborate with the esteemed Oscar and Grammy-winning composer A. R. Rahman.

In a conversation with IANS during the film's promotional activities, Imtiaz, who typically partners with either Pritam or A.R. Rahman, has enjoyed great success with both artists.

When queried about his decision to lean towards A. R. Rahman for 'Main Vapas Aaunga', he shared with IANS, “I realized that there exists a distinct music from Punjab or a particular era in Indian music. However, this film is contemporary. I needed to honor that historical sound while ensuring it resonates with today's audience. Hence, I chose A.R. Rahman, as I aimed to remain authentic to the prevailing Western music trends of that time, which featured elements of swing and dance.”

He elaborated, “Moreover, there were various Western musical styles emerging, seamlessly blending with the folk sounds of the era. We attempted to encapsulate this in one of our songs, engaging in a lot of experimentation to reinterpret the music reflective of that particular period.”

This film marks the fifth collaboration between Imtiaz and Rahman, following the success of renowned soundtracks from 'Rockstar', 'Highway', 'Tamasha', and 'Amar Singh Chamkila'.

Produced by Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal of Applause Entertainment, along with Mohit Choudhary and Shibasish Sarkar of Window Seat Films, 'Main Vapas Aaunga' is slated for theatrical release on June 12, 2026.
