Imtiaz Ali Unveils the Heart of 'Main Vapas Aaunga' Through Memories
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 14 (NationPress) Renowned Indian filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is preparing for the debut of his latest project, ‘Main Vapas Aaunga’, and has elaborated on the intricate process behind the film's visual storytelling.
In an interview with IANS, he revealed that memories played a pivotal role in crafting the film's unique visual palette and texture.
Ali explained, “We delved into the memories, specifically the images that reside in the mind of Ishar. Ishar Singh Grewal, our protagonist, is 95 years old, reflecting on his cherished college days. Memories carry a specific hue or tone.”
He added, “The light and texture may not precisely reflect the past, yet when viewed 78 years later, it takes on a rose-colored tint. This is how we conceptualized the film's visuals. We actively sought to capture what a joyful memory embodies. This pursuit was reflected in our choice of lenses, lighting, costume design, and a variety of camera techniques.”
Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari Wagh, ‘Main Vapas Aaunga’ marks the fifth collaboration between Imtiaz and Rahman, following successful soundtracks for ‘Rockstar’, ‘Highway’, ‘Tamasha’, and ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’.
Produced by Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal of Applause Entertainment, alongside Mohit Choudhary and Shibasish Sarkar from Window Seat Films, ‘Main Vapas Aaunga’ is scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, 2026.
