Jackie Shroff Honors the Legendary Dev Anand on His 13th Death Anniversary

Mumbai, Dec 3 (NationPress) On the occasion of Dev Anand’s 13th death anniversary this Tuesday, veteran actor Jackie Shroff remembered the beloved icon and offered a heartfelt tribute to the star.

Jackie shared a video montage on Instagram, showcasing some of Dev Anand's most memorable moments from his films, including “Johny Mera Naam”, the song “Main Zindagi Ka Saath Nibhaata Chala Gaya”, “Aankhon Hi Aankhon Mein”, and “Khoya Khoya Chand”.

In the caption, Jackie wrote: “Remembering Dev Saab 26 Sept 1923 - 3 Dec 2011.”

Dev Anand is celebrated as one of the most prominent and successful actors in the realm of Indian cinema. Over his illustrious career, which spanned six decades, he appeared in over 100 films. His debut came in 1946 with “Hum Ek Hain”, a film centered on Hindu-Muslim unity.

His first major commercial hit was Ziddi in 1948, followed by the acclaimed crime thriller Baazi in 1951, which is considered the precursor to the series of “Bombay Noir” films that emerged in Bollywood during the 1950s.

Throughout the years, he starred in numerous iconic films such as “Jaal”, “Taxi Driver”, “Kala Pani”, “C.I.D”, “Hum Dono”, “Tere Ghar Ke Samne”, “Guide”, “Jewel Thief”, “Prem Pujari”, “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”, “Banarasi Babu”, “Heera Panna”, “Amir Garib”, “Warrant”, and his last film was “Chargesheet”, which was released in 2011.

Dev Anand passed away in his hotel room in London at the age of 88 on December 3, 2011, due to a cardiac arrest. His death occurred just two months after the release of his final film Chargesheet, which he both directed and produced.
